About Project

Interest in renewable energy sources such as solar energy gained great momentum after the Great Oil Crisis in the 70s. Today, there has been a revival of interest in renewable energies, spurred by the need to reduce the environmental impact caused by the use of fossil energy systems. But there are two main disadvantages when operating solar power systems:

Mission

It was decided that at least 3 commercial scale facilities (FOAK), the first of their kind in Europe, should be implemented in the coming years. Different technology solutions are used by the CSP Temporary Working Group to achieve cost reduction targets.

Vision

Focusing on the simulation of different scaled versions of the TCP-100 facility, where the models of the main components and subsystems (CSP and THS) will be evaluated under certain changes of their material, structure or capacity.

Kickoff Meeting and Technical Tour at CIEMAT's Facilities

In the renewable energy sector, the move from demonstrating new technologies to realizing first-of-a-kind commercial-scale plants (FOAKs) is a critical step in reinvigorating Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) deployment in Europe. To address this challenge, our DISOPED project is pioneering innovative solutions, with a primary focus on proving the viability of cooperation mechanisms outlined in the Renewable Energy Directive.
